The spirit of rugby comes to Mozambique with a visit to the Portugal Rugby Youth Festival

Solidarity is one of the core values of rugby. That spirit was present at the 11th edition of the Portugal Rugby Youth Festival, where APOIAR - a Portuguese NGO that promotes development projects in the areas of Nutrition, Health, Education and Training in Africa - was present, gathering support among the teams in competition at the tournament for its FEED Champions project.

The FEED Champions project is the result of the union between APOIAR and the Mozambican Rugby Federation. It is a sports nutrition project that exists to improve the nutrition and health of children and young people who attend training and rugby tournaments, but who lack the energy of a meal! The goal for 2019 is to distribute 12 000 pack lunches to players in rugby tournaments in the Mozambican capital, Maputo, divided amongst players ranging from the U8 to Senior categories, so that they have the motivation and physical capacity to play and so that they can internalize the many teachings of this sport at the social and emotional development levels.
